Dear Jessica,

 

Hey! I really miss you. Finally I finished all the exams and the winter vacation began yesterday. My family is busy preparing for the Chinese New Year. We plan to go to the temple as usual. My mom said this year she would cook fish, pork shank, and fo tiao qiang and so on. I am looking forward to the gathering with my family and playing with crackers with my cousins.

 

By the way, take it easy. I think if you don't know what they're saying then you can ask them. If you show your interest in their conversations, they will be willing to talk to you. Later on, you may not only be friends with them, but also adapt to their accent and feel less stressed. You can do it, just try!

Ah! Tu me manques. J’ai finalement terminé tous mes examens et les vacances d’hiver ont commencé hier. Ma famille est occupée par les préparatifs du Nouvel An chinois. Nous prévoyons aller au temple, comme à l’habitude. Ma mère a dit que cette année elle cuisinerait du poisson, du jarret de porc, du fo tiao qiang, et bien d’autres plats. J’ai hâte à la réunion de famille et de jouer aux pétards avec mes cousins.

En passant, vas-y à ton rythme. Je crois que si tu ne comprends pas ce qu’ils disent, tu peux leur demander. Si tu t'intéresses à leurs conversations, ils seront désireux de te parler. Plus tard, tu seras non seulement amie avec eux, mais tu t’adapteras aussi à leur accent et tu te sentiras moins stressée. Essaies, tu peux y arriver!

親愛的潔西卡：

      嘿！我很想你。昨天我終於考完試了，也終於開始放寒假了。我們家正忙碌的為過年做準備，我們今年也會像前幾年一樣去廟裡拜拜。我媽說今年的年菜有魚、蹄膀、佛跳牆等，我很期待和整個家族相聚，還有跟我的表姐妹一起放鞭炮。

 

      對了，不要太緊張。我覺得如果你聽不懂他們在講什麼的話，可以直接問他們啊，如果你對他們的話題表現出有興趣的樣子，我想他們會很樂意跟你聊聊喔。然後你們就會成為朋友了！多和他們聊天的話，你也會慢慢習慣他們的口音，就不會這麼緊張了。你一定可以做的很好的，試試看踏出一步吧！
